A documentary account, compiled from primary sources, of Michelle Handler’s leadership of the Naturist Leadership Council and her independent withdrawal as a Cape Cod plaintiff in 1988. Drawn from The Naturist Society’s own official history, Michelle’s contemporaneous notes and correspondence, and attorney Jeffrey Denner’s written reply directly contradicting Lee Baxandall’s public claim to control the Cape Cod litigation. Documents Handler’s removal from NLC leadership on a 6–5 vote after she raised anti-pornography and image-consent concerns within the movement; the institutional pressure recorded in her own notes; her parallel, independently-made 1987 request that Baxandall stop unauthorized use of her photographs; and the movement’s own admission that its better-funded successor organization failed to accomplish what her NLC leadership had been building.

This is explicitly not a biography or obituary. No public record of Michelle Handler’s or her mother Marianne Hoppe Handler’s life or death could be located despite a direct search; that absence is noted as fact without speculation as to its cause. Part of the Nikki Craft Archival Project.
